The recipe for success has many ingredients, and, of course, everyone’s recipe looks a little different. But an important ingredient for many real estate top producers is a relationship with a local REALTOR association.
Many of your peers join local REALTOR associations because of the value they provide, including networking opportunities, and easy access to education. Additionally, REALTOR associations monitor local and state legislative policy, and work with elected officials to ensure a pro-homeownership community and a pro-real estate business environment.
Today’s business world is all about connections, because the more connections you make, the more likely you are to succeed. But real estate top producers know that while it’s important to make as many consumer connections as possible, it’s equally as important to make quality peer connections that may lead to mentorship and/or business referrals. The best and easiest place to make those connections is through a local REALTOR association.
The health of the Colorado real estate market depends on educated and ethical real estate professionals who thoroughly understand the current market, as well as what the market looked like in the past, and where the market might be headed soon. REALTOR associations host continuing education (CE) classes on a variety of industry topics because it helps keep members informed. Additionally, most associations bring in speakers who help break down current hot issues. For example, South Metro Denver REALTOR Association (SMDRA) recently hosted a speaker who addressed a range of topics, including marijuana, mortgage fraud, and buyer love letters.
You’re a real estate professional, and because of that, your community is important to you. But running a successful business requires a lot of your focus, which leaves little time to research and understand local, state, and national politics that may affect your business. Local REALTOR associations handle this for you because there is strength in numbers. They monitor the issues and meet with elected officials to advocate for policies that protect you as a real estate professional, as well as consumer property rights.
